2023 LOOK AHEAD
A BRIEF HISTORY OF PIHI: The Piedmont Heights Business Alliance will welcome in our fifth year as a 501 c(6) nonprofit organization serving the businesses of the Piedmont Heights community in 2023.
Founded in 2019, a volunteer board of directors set out to unify, engage and organize the business community. PiHi Alliance established relationships with local businesss, the Atlanta BeltLine, Invest Atlanta and surrounding neighborhoods. Then in March of 2020 our focus changed with the beginning of the pandemic. The organization pivoted to communicating to the public regarding our open businesses. We focused on COVID updates, funding opportunities and started Beautify PiHi as a way to keep connected, make a difference and support the community during this very trying time. The founding board of PiHi perservered in 2021 and soon pivoted to focus on the infrastrucutre challenges of the Monroe/Armour roundabout and the closure of Cheshire Bridge which extended through 2022. Countless volunteer hours, emails, phone calls and collaborations went into this focus.
We are happy to say that the Monroe/Armour Drive roundabout completed in late August and two lanes of Cheshire Bridge opened to traffic on October 31st.
2023 GOALS + NEEDS
HOLD QUARTERLY MEETINGS: Focused on networking, important information and business resources. Everyone is Welcome!
RETAIN + INCREASE MEMBERSHIP to 100 members strong! 59 in 2022. CHESHIRE BRIDGE OPENING EVENT: Produce our first event focused on the full opening of Cheshire Bridge. Spring 2023. ADVOCATE WITH GDOT: Our main focus for 2023 will be communicating and advocating with GDOT regarding the Monroe/Buford Roundabout. Construction is slated to start in 2024. This will take immense attention and time. CHESHIRE BRIDGE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS: Working with ATLDOT and District 6 on a list of infrastructure improvements. BEAUTIFY PIHI: Focus on two clean ups in 2023. Spring & Fall. NORTHWEST FREIGHT STUDY + LINDBERG PLANNING: Continue to dedicate our resources to solutions and communications regarding these studies that impact PiHi. LAUNCH SPONSORSHIPS: Create sponsorship levels to support operations of PiHi Alliance. ENGAGE COMMUNITY SUPPORT: Community members who see the difference the PiHi Alliance is making can make a monthly, quarterly or annual contribution. Thank you! INCREASE BUSINESS PROMOTIONS + ADVOCACY: PiHi Alliance is guided by a working volunteer board of directors. The operations are accomplished by paid consultants. We need to raise $30,000 for increased part-time communications, operations and advocacy support. |
